Oedipus at the Blue Elephant Theater

For Pj’s birthday (27 now!) We went to see a small black box production of Seneca’s “Oedipus.”  It was put on by some students who graduated from Pj’s program last year.  The production had 5 actors and a cohort of ‘video’ assistants taking photo’s and video as interactive participants in the piece.  There was a heavy focus on ‘chorus’ work and ‘movement’ to spur on the timing of the piece.  It was free with encouraged donations.  I quite enjoyed it.  I continue to be pleasantly surprised by how intimate the theatre experiences have been here.  Even when we’ve been to some high profile places like the DonMar Warehouse the productions are incredibly visceral.
